The VCP is currently working on plans to be able to provide an on-line Veterans Virtual Community and contact service across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire providing support to veterans and their families.
We are conscious that there are many organisations and individuals “out there” doing fantastic work in supporting the shielded, older, at risk, and vulnerable community. Our aim is not to replace these existing services but to work with them and our Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire (CSW) Armed Forces Community (AFCC) Partnership to provide a complimentary service in support of these Community Resources.
We plan to develop and on-line Veterans Community using video and audio to help those who are going through social distancing/isolation, bringing together other UK Armed Forces Veterans using this media.
Our CSW AFCC Partnership Representatives will also be involved in providing information & advice on a range of topics from Housing Related Issues, Help on improving your Mental & Physical Wellbeing and activities such as Virtual Bingo/Quiz’s/Veterans Stories/Virtual Veterans Wives Clubs etc. We will evaluate and adapt this service to ensure we are meeting the needs of our Veterans Community. We are not experts, we are Veterans like yourself who are doing what we can.
We also hope to be able to provide our Elderly Veterans Community & those who have served during WW2 & other conflicts the facility to share their individual stories to help preserve the history of those who have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces from across our Region.
All your need to get involved is an email address and a PC/Laptop/Tablet, Mobile Phone to join the Virtual Community when it is launched. For those who are not on the internet/www – You can still ring in for a “Veterans Buddy Call” we will ensure that we remain in contact with you during this difficult time.
We will let our CSW Veterans Community know through our Partnership and the Veterans Contact Point’s own Social Media when the Virtual Community is live and accessible.
If support is needed we will refer individuals to sources of support which will include the CSW AFCC Partnership/Military Charities.
